Again, as in May 2007, Jeff gave an appreciative audience an evening to remember. Authenticity shone through and attention to the smallest nuances of dialect and meaning brought out the history and humour of the old songs he sang. We listened attentively and joined in, responding to the authority of his presence. When he played banjo, guitar, bones, spoons, concertina, or Jew's harp, the accompaniments were intricate and flawless and always complementary rather than intrusive. We were entertained by an honest, very accomplished and knowledgeable performer and we transcended to past times. (by P)
